  • You are starting out and want new subscribers to get a welcome email automatically, without paying for it yet.
  • Your list is still small, under 250, and you want to start for nothing.
  • You sell physical things as well, through a shop like Shopify.
  • You want to be able to change your mind later without losing anything.

Don't use Omnisend if

  • Your list is already past 250, so you would be paying immediately. Kit stays free to 10,000.
  • You sell through Teachable, Kajabi, Podia or Thinkific and want the two joined up without paying for Zapier as well. None of those four appear in their integrations directory. Kit lists all four directly.
  • You want to email your list more than about 2 times a month without paying. Their free send allowance runs out before the subscriber cap does.

Works with where you sellintegrations
No course platform appears in their integrations directory. Omnisend lists 280+ apps across categories such as loyalty, shipping and reviews, but none of Teachable, Kajabi, Podia or Thinkific is among them, so a connection to any of the four would have to run through Zapier. Source

Free and done for you above 250 contacts, through what they call the Kickstart Migration Service, completed within 5 business days of being granted access. It covers all contacts, up to 4 automation workflows, up to 5 signup forms, 5 segments and one master email template. Below 250 contacts you import yourself, using their self-serve guides. Source
What else it costs
No transaction fee on sales. Email volume is capped by plan rather than only by contacts: 500 emails a month on the free plan, 6,000 on Standard. Going over does not block sending outright, but their pricing page says you will be offered an account upgrade, which you have to confirm. SMS is billed separately and per message. Source
Getting your list back outEasy to leave
Cancelling a paid plan does not delete anything by itself: their help centre says you drop to the free plan and your contacts, campaigns and reports "remain accessible in read-only mode." The real risk is inactivity rather than cancellation: an account with no login for several months can be treated as inactive and permanently deleted, and a deliberate account deletion is instant and irreversible. Export your list if you plan to leave the account untouched for a while. Source

Yes. Omnisend's free plan covers 250 subscribers and 500 emails/mo. We read this off their pricing page on 9 September 2026.
Can Omnisend send an automated welcome sequence on the free plan?
Yes. Automation included, but 500 sends is tight. That matters more than it sounds: most free plans let you broadcast but will not automate, so a new subscriber gets nothing until you sit down and write to them.
What does Omnisend cost once the free plan runs out?
The entry paid plan is Standard at $11.20/mo, starting price, at up to 500 contacts; the price then climbs with contact count ($14 at 501-1,000, $17.50 at 1,001-1,500). Prices on every platform here move with list size, so treat that as the floor rather than the bill.
